Authorities in Colombia have arrested the brother of the capital's mayor on corruption charges for his alleged role in a bid-rigging scandal involving road construction.
Prosecutors say the scandal fleeced taxpayers of more than $1.2 billion.
Sen. Ivan Moreno was arrested Thursday on Supreme Court orders.
He allegedly used his influence as brother of Bogota Mayor Samuel Moreno to demand illegal payments from contractors who won road contracts.
The mayor remains under investigation.
The brothers are grandsons of Gustavo Rojas Pinilla, Colombia's president in 1953-1957. Both are affiliated with the leftist Polo Democratico party.
