Seychelles rescues 4 fishermen from Somali pirates

A presidential spokeswoman for the island nation of Seychelles says its coast guard has rescued four local fisherman whose ship had been hijacked by Somali pirates.

Srdjana Janosevic says that one fisherman and three Somali pirates were wounded in Wednesday's mission that rescued the crew of the fishing vessel Gloria.

Janosevic says seven pirates were captured in the operation 150 miles (240 kilometers) north east of Mahe, the largest island of the Seychelles archipelago.

Janosevic says President James Michel ordered the rescue mission after the coast guard received a distress call from the ship on Tuesday.
