Vietnamese prosecutors have dropped charges against a blogger who was accused of branding the son of a senior security official a womanizer.
Le Nguyen Huong Tra was arrested in October. According to state media, she was accused of infringing "on the interests of other people," which carries a penalty of three years in jail. She was released on bail in January.
The man she blogged about is the son of a vice minister of public security.
On Tuesday, the state-run online newspaper VnExpress quoted prosecutors as saying Tra's crime was not that serious and that she only needed to be educated.
Rights groups have criticized Vietnam for jailing people for peacefully expressing opinions, but the authoritarian government maintains that only lawbreakers are punished.
