Two trains collided outside South Africa's capital city Pretoria during the evening rush hour Friday, killing a train driver and injuring more than 200, railway officials said.
Metrorail spokeswoman Lillian Mofokeng said that a train driver died in the collision, correcting her earlier statement that a driver and a passenger were killed. Mofokeng says the cause of the crash is unknown.
South Africa has poor and unsafe transport infrastructure.
Earlier this week, scores of commuters protested in Johannesburg, calling train service unsafe and unreliable.
