Prague's Astronomical Clock _ one of the major historical landmarks in the Czech capital _ has been shut down for a three-week repair.
Prague City Hall says the 600-year-old medieval clock was shut down Monday and won't resume operation until April 25.
City Hall spokeswoman Tereza Magdalena Krasenska says the repair is necessary and will take only the shortest time possible.
The plaster inside the tower of Old Town City Hall, which is not original, will be removed to get rid of damp, and several minor problems with the clock's mechanism will be fixed during the three weeks.
Crowds of tourists watch a show of 12 apostles and other figures moving on the clock hourly from morning to evening every day.
