British authorities are investigating how a fake bomb was smuggled aboard a cargo flight to Turkey without being detected.
Metropolitan Police said Wednesday that a 26-year-old man was arrested at his home in north London on March 23 on suspicion of making a hoax bomb. He was released on bail and is due to appear in court in May.
ITV News says the hoax bomb _ which had a timer, wires and a detonator _ was placed inside a wedding cake box and taken to a UPS office in London two weeks ago.
The UPS flight traveled to Istanbul with the package.
Britain's Department for Transport says it is investigating all aspects of the incident including UPS' procedures. UPS says it is cooperating with investigators.
