Authorities have used tear gas to disperse thousands of students marching in Burkina Faso after the death of a young man in police custody.
Witnesses said there were injuries Friday, and national television reporters were beaten and their cameras taken away by demonstrators. Smoke rose from burning tires at the scene.
Demonstrations began late last month in the West African country after a jailed student died in custody. The government said he had meningitis, but accusations of mistreatment have fueled deadly protests, killing at least six others.
Students are demanding that the government fire the ministers of health, security and justice. Already a head of police and a governor have been fired by the government.
