Italian police arrest alleged mobster bomber

Italy's chief anti-Mafia prosecutor says a rare turncoat from a powerful crime syndicate has helped them arrest a mobster who planted a bomb and left a bazooka near a courthouse in separate warnings to investigators.

Piero Grasso says that Antonio Cortese was arrested Wednesday. He is suspected of planting an unloaded bazooka and carrying out a bomb attack earlier this year that damaged the entrance of the Reggio Calabria courthouse in southern Italy.

Grasso told Sky TG24 TV that turncoat Antonino Lo Giudice, a former top 'ndrangheta boss, accused Cortese of planting the explosives in an attempt to intimidate prosecutors, who have been hitting hard at the syndicate, one of the world's biggest cocaine traffickers.
