Russia woos France, Germany at security summit

Russia is seeking a greater security role in Europe and France is seeking to "reset" European relations with Moscow at a summit with the Russian, French and German leaders.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Monday before leaving for the French resort of Deauville that he wants a "worthy global response" to Russian proposals for a new European security agreement.

President Nicolas Sarkozy's office says Europe should "reset" its relations with Russia the way the Obama administration has sought to.

Sarkozy, Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold a working dinner Monday night and summit talks on Tuesday morning in Deauville focusing on security and Russia's relations with the European Union.
