Iraqi officials say a roadside bomb has hit a senior politician's convoy, killing four people and wounding six others, including the politician.
Police and hospital officials say the blast struck the car of Abdul Karim al-Mohammadawi, a prominent member of the Sunni-backed Iraqiya alliance, while he was traveling through southeast Baghdad on Thursday.
The officials say three civilians and a bodyguard were killed in the attack. Al-Mohammadawi, three bodyguards and two bystanders were wounded.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
Iraqiya is led by Ayad Allawi, a Sunni-backed Shiite. He has been locked in a power struggle with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki since an inconclusive election in March.
