Troop contribution for Afghan surge

Unofficial tally of pledges to the NATO-led international force in Afghanistan, made in response to the planned deployment of 30,000 U.S. reinforcements by President Barack Obama.

The allies are expected to confirm their pledges after a conference on Monday in Mons, Belgium, and more commitments are expected following the international conference on Afghanistan in January.

Albania: 125

Croatia: 40 for training police

Czech Republic: 100

Italy: 1,140

Lithuania: 20

Poland: 680 and additional 400 as a reserve in Poland

Romania: 100

Slovakia: 240

Turkey: 60 for training Afghan forces

Britain: 1,200
