MIAMI (AP) — The Latest on the arrest of a 7-year-old student who school officials say punched and kicked a teacher (all times local):

7 p.m.

Officials from a school district in Florida say last week marked the second time the same first-grader was detained and taken to a hospital for examination.

Authorities released a report Monday showing the 7-year-old was restrained and taken to a hospital on Nov. 30 — in addition to last Thursday.

Officials say that on Thursday, a teacher at the Coral Way K-8 Center in Miami told the boy to stop playing with his food in the cafeteria. An incident report from Miami-Dade County Public Schools police officer Munick Soriano says when the child refused to stop, he was taken from the cafeteria. The report said the boy hit the teacher repeatedly in the back when they were in a hallway outside the cafeteria.

A report released later Monday says the student punched students and staff members on Nov. 30 and acted aggressively toward Soriano when he responded.

The child's mother, Mercy Alvarez, called her son's arrest "police abuse."

She recorded the arrest last week with her cellphone and shared it on Facebook, where it has been viewed nearly 3 million times.

Miami police have arrested a 7-year-old boy accused of hitting his teacher.

The Miami Herald cites a police report stating Mercy Alvarez's son was handcuffed last Thursday for hitting the teacher. The first-grader was then hospitalized under the Florida Mental Health Act for a psychiatric evaluation and later discharged. WSVN-TV quotes a police report as stating the child was taken out of the cafeteria for playing with his food. It says he then "attacked the teacher by repeatedly punching her on the back" until the two fell to the ground.

Schools Police Chief Ian Moffett says the department's response was standard. But Alvarez says the incidents are "police abuse."

The teacher is planning to press charges.

Police were also called on the child for throwing a tantrum several months ago.
