JAYESS, Miss. (AP) — The Latest on a shooting and a search for a suspect in Mississippi (all times local):
Officials are expanding a search for a Mississippi man they believe shot and killed another man, wounded a woman and set two houses on fire.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Warren Strain said Tuesday evening that officers are searching wooded areas near Jayess in Lawrence County.
That comes after officers surrounded two mobile homes and a house looking for Tony Wilson, who Lawrence County Sheriff Lessie Butler says shot and killed a neighbor in a land dispute.
Butler says Wilson and Henry Peavey have disputed ownership of a parcel to which Peavey was granted title.
Officials say Wilson set fire to two houses and wounded Peavey's wife, although the nature of her injuries is unclear. She was hospitalized in Jackson.
Robert Langille, Wilson's brother-in-law, says Wilson is an experienced woodsman who could elude police for a long time.
Officials say they've surrounded a man in a mobile home in rural south Mississippi after he shot and killed another man and wounded a woman.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Warren Strain says officers are on the scene near Jayess in Lawrence County.
Strain says the incident began before noon Tuesday, and that the man set two structures on fire in addition to the shootings. Strain says the man does not appear to have fired at officers.
Strain says investigators are still gathering information on what caused the incident.
