PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say an overnight blaze that severely damaged a popular Philadelphia restaurant also killed two dogs.

Firefighters were still hosing down Bridget Foy's on South Street at midday Wednesday after a fire that began overnight tore through the building.

Eleven people have been displaced by the blaze that drew roughly 100 firefighters who worked to stem the flames from spreading to nearby buildings. Officials say they are still determining the structural integrity of neighboring properties.

Three firefighters were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries; two have been released. The dead dogs were from a nearby pet store.

The restaurant has been in business since 1978. It was closed when the fire broke out.

A local business group says the eatery has been the cornerstone of the block for four decades.
