ATLANTA (AP) — Here is a timeline of the events leading to the escape of two Georgia inmates from a prison transfer bus on June 13, based an external review report:
3:30 a.m. Correctional officers Sgt. Curtis Billue and Sgt. Christopher Monica begin to search and cuff inmates at Baldwin State Prison in Hardwick. Twelve inmates from Richmond and Jones county jails who were already on the bus were left unattended while the officers collected the Baldwin State Prison inmates.
4:42 a.m. Eleven inmates from Baldwin State Prison, including Ricky Dubose and Donnie Rowe, enter the bus.
4:44 a.m. Dubose has removed his handcuffs.
4:45 a.m. Dubose removes Rowe's handcuffs.
4:53 a.m. Bus leaves Baldwin State Prison before sunrise with 23 inmates onboard.
5:43 a.m. Bus arrives at Hancock State Prison in Sparta.
5:50 a.m. Billue and Monica take their guns and exit the bus, leaving inmates unattended.
5:53 a.m. Inmate heard on video telling the others that the lock on the gate separating the inmate compartment from the officer compartment is not locked. Rowe is able to open the door using a toothbrush in about a minute. Dubose and Rowe enter the officer compartment and rifle through the officers' lunches.
5:58 a.m. Dubose and Rowe return to the inmate compartment and shut the gate.
6:05 a.m. Ten inmates from Hancock State Prison enter the bus. Guards again fail to lock the gate.
6:13 a.m. Bus pulls out of back gate of Hancock State Prison.
6:15 a.m. Billue and Monica retrieve their guns from the front entrance of Hancock State Prison.
6:24 a.m. Dubose removes his uniform shirt and he and Rowe begin moving toward the front of the bus.
6:28 a.m. Rowe removes his belly chain.
6:36 a.m. Rowe begins trying to open the gate into the officer compartment. Most other inmates seen moving to the back of the bus.
6:40 a.m. Rowe and Dubose get through the door and attack and kill the officers.
6:41 a.m. Rowe and Dubose carjack a driver and flee in his green Honda Civic.
