VERBATIM: China’s National Bureau of Statistics says the official Purchasing Managers’ Index, based on a survey of factory managers, slipped to 50.1 from 50.3 in November. It was the third straight monthly reading above 50, a level that indicates an expansion of manufacturing activity. A parallel purchasing managers’ index for the non-manufacturing sector, which covers construction and services, rose to 52.2 up from 50 in November.

All living presidents to attend Trump’s inauguration

All of the nation’s living presidents plan to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday. When the outgoing Biden administration gives way to the incoming Trump administration on Monday, former Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama will be there to witness the peaceful transfer of power. The former first ladies also will attend, except for Michelle Obama. It’ll be the second such gathering in under two weeks. All of the living presidents attended this month’s state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter.

The latest numbers on persecution of Christians are disturbing

VERBATIM:  Open Doors US has produced its annual report and it concludes that more than 380 million believers suffer high levels of persecution for their faith and tens-of-millions more see their religious freedom restricted in lesser ways.  That means one in seven Christians around the globe is persecuted, including one in five in Africa and two in five in Asia.  Muslim radicals are the primary culprits, though India has a problem with radical Hindus and Communism is a problem elsewhere.  MH SRN NEWS.
