16 injured after chemical spray in California shopping mall

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Authorities say at least 16 people were injured after someone released pepper spray or a similar chemical inside a San Francisco shopping mall.

KCBS reports (http://cbsloc.al/2o71I7s ) that 15 of those who complained of pain Monday night were treated on the scene with eye wash and released.

Fire officials say one person was taken to a hospital for evaluation and was in stable condition Monday night.

San Francisco police Capt. Mark Osuna says a female juvenile went into a clothing store in the Stonestown Mall and sprayed a chemical into the air, but at no one specifically.

Osuna says she ran out of the store and was followed by other juveniles.

The mall was not evacuated, but several stores closed.

Police have not apprehended anyone in connection with the incident.
