WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Jury selection is moving slowly in the retrial of a Florida woman accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband.
About 70 of the initial group of 100 potential jurors told Judge Glenn Kelley on Thursday they either knew something about the case against Dalia Dippolito or had a hardship. Another 100 potential jurors will be screened Friday and final selections made Monday.
Dippolito was arrested in 2009, her case featured on the TV show "Cops." A 2011 conviction was thrown out on appeal.
Prosecutors allege Dippolito offered an undercover police officer $7,000 to kill her then-husband. She says she was just acting and didn't really want her husband dead.
If convicted of solicitation to commit first-degree murder, she could be sentenced up to 20 years.
