FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — The owners of a Fort Wayne bar where three people were shot dead and two others injured have surrendered their liquor license and won't reopen.
One of the owners of Sports and Spirits, Burke Baughman, released a statement Tuesday saying they've "voluntarily tendered" their alcoholic beverage permit to the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission to be placed in escrow and that they don't plan to reopen.
Police and paramedics found three men fatally wounded at the bar about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Two other people were hospitalized in good condition with gunshot wounds.
Baughman says the owners are cooperating with authorities to help them in identifying who is responsible for the shootings.
Witnesses told police they heard gunshots and saw one person fleeing the bar.
