BENSALEM, Pa. (AP) — Two women are facing charges after police say they left an infant in the backseat of a car that reached 115 degrees while they shopped at a suburban Philadelphia Target store.

Authorities say an off-duty Philadelphia police officer spotted the baby Sunday afternoon in Bensalem and managed to pry the door open. Investigators say the child spent about 15 minutes inside the car. The baby's first birthday is next week.

Police say 19-year-old Katia Hernandez, the child's aunt, and 40-year-old Patricia Diaz, the child's grandmother, told them they forgot the baby. They're both facing child endangerment charges.

The child's mother was called to the scene and accompanied the baby to a hospital. Authorities say the child appeared to be in good condition.

Court records didn't list attorneys for the defendants.
