ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Authorities say at least one person has died in a fiery crash of a single-engine plane at an airport in Alaska.
Anchorage Assistant Fire Chief Erich Scheunemann tells KTVA (http://bit.ly/2b6hBCY) that two people were reported to be on the plane when it crashed Saturday afternoon. Anchorage Police Chief Chris Tolley said one death had been confirmed.
Chugiak Fire and Rescue Chief Clifton Dalton said the plane crashed in flames on the north side of Birchwood Airport. Anchorage Police said witnesses reported seeing the plane taking off just before the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
