The Standard & Poor's 500 index added 0.46 points to 2,164.25.

For the week:

The Dow is down 80.19 points, or 0.4 percent.

The S&P 500 is down 9.35 points, or 0.4 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 4.11 points, or 0.1 percent.

For the year:

The Dow is up 927.02 points, or 5.3 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 120.31 points, or 5.9 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 158.84 points, or 3.2 percent.
