VERNON, Conn. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman is accused of assaulting a 97-year-old woman in a wheelchair at a supermarket in Connecticut.
The alleged assault happened Thursday at an Aldi supermarket in the town of Vernon.
Police say 42-year-old Kirsten Laundry, of Boston, Massachusetts, shoved the elderly woman's face in a "violent manner" while the two were shopping at the store. Laundry also allegedly threatened to withhold food from the woman, who was not hurt.
Police say Laundry was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
She's charged with cruelty to persons, second-degree breach of peace and possession of drug paraphernalia. She's being held on $10,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday. It's unclear if she has an attorney.
Police say they've made a referral to Elderly Protective Service.
