ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — A Virginia Western Community College official says the school in Roanoke is on lockdown and campus police are working on the situation.

College spokesman Josh Meyer said by email that the school was locked down just before noon on Monday. He did not have a reason for the lockdown.

The school is tweeting that people should close and lock doors and stay away from windows. Anyone not currently on campus should avoid campus.
