PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Three people have been found killed by shotgun blasts to their heads at a home, and a man has been arrested there after a short standoff.
Police officers responded Sunday morning to a report of a shooting at the Philadelphia home, but a man refused to open the door, saying he had a shotgun and had shot someone and wasn't coming out, authorities said.
The man later fired several shots from inside the house at SWAT units as they were climbing onto the roof, police said. A short time later, he walked out of the front door and was taken into custody, police said.
Inside the home, in the Kensington neighborhood, a man was found lying on the living room floor with an apparent shotgun wound to his head, police said. On the dining room floor, another man was lying face down with a shotgun wound to the back of his head. On the kitchen floor was a woman, also with a shotgun wound to the head.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The area also was the scene of the shooting death of a 4-year-old girl, and police said at least six other people were wounded by shootings around the city overnight.
