MADISON, Wis. (AP) — House Speaker Paul Ryan has raised $17.2 million in the first three months of 2016 to help elect fellow Republicans to Congress.
Ryan's haul through the end of March comes in his first full quarter as speaker.
The Wisconsin lawmaker has transferred more than $11 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee — money intended to help put Republicans in the House this fall.
Ryan's political office says the most money that previous Speaker John Boehner ever transferred to that committee in one quarter was $7 million.
A committee spokeswoman didn't immediately return a telephone call.
Ryan raised $4.6 million for his own re-election and has $7.6 million cash on hand.
The speaker says he's not running for president even as the GOP deals with divisions over the candidates.
