LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a man is in stable condition after being shot by police during a traffic stop on a metro Atlanta freeway.

Officials from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say the shooting happened Tuesday morning on Interstate 20 in the Lithonia area, just east of Atlanta.

GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles says 22-year-old Diondre David Evans was being sought in connection with a domestic violence incident in Conyers and was wanted for battery, trespassing and obstructing a 911 call.

Officials say a police officer and a Rockdale County sheriff's deputy pulled Evans over after an alert was issued for him and the deputy used his Taser when Evans resisted. Miles says Evans continued moving his car forward and the officer shot Evans.

Evans was wounded in his arm and neck and the GBI is investigating.
