Zoo spokeswoman Michelle Curley says the female polar bear named Berit escaped late Wednesday morning but remained contained and was never loose in the zoo. Visitors had been moved inside as a precaution but were free to leave the park.
Curley said the polar bear was had been secured again by early afternoon and the zoo was reopened. No injuries were reported, and the bear is unharmed.
Curley says visitors weren't at any risk.
