LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — The mother of a 6-year-old boy who was shot and wounded as he rode his bicycle in a suburb near Atlanta is asking the shooter to turn himself in.
Shannita Harrington tells WSB-TV (http://2wsb.tv/1QTyJe5 ) that her son, Ni-Shawn Moore, has a bullet lodged in his chest after Saturday's shooting.
Police say the boy was shot as he rode his bike in the Lawrenceville area, northeast of Atlanta. Police say an investigation found someone approached the boy and shot him in the upper chest. They haven't given any possible motive and add they are continuing to search for the suspect.
The mother says she initially thought the boy was hit by a BB, but doctors determined after he was taken to a hospital that he was struck by a .22-caliber bullet.
