AP PHOTOS: Editor selections from the Middle East

Highlights from the weekly AP photo report from the Middle East and Afghanistan, a selection of newsworthy images you might have missed from the region.

This week's gallery features warm weather across the region, with the Mediterranean Sea providing a cool breeze for surfers in Israel and families in Lebanon.

Also this week, a shaky cease-fire in Syria brokered by Moscow and Washington survived its first week, outlasting expectations and providing a glimmer of hope that a diplomatic solution to the five-year-old war might be possible.

Parliamentary elections were concluded in Iran, where a coalition of moderates and reformists gained ground in the new parliament, the biggest presence for the camp in a decade.

NFL players visited Egypt and the pyramids and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met a sumo wrestler.

And across Lebanon, Palestine and Israel, funerals took place for Hezbollah fighters, Palestinian youths and a Jewish Rabbi.
