FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — The Latest on the trial of a man charged with raping and abducting a teenager he later married and impregnated (all times local):
A Southern California woman says her husband of 10 years forced her into sex when she was 15, locking the bedroom door, stripping her and warning her not to yell.
The woman, who's now 26, testified Wednesday in the trial of 42-year-old Isidro Garcia, who's pleaded not guilty to raping and kidnapping her.
The woman says Garcia had sex with her at least six times while they were living in the Santa Ana apartment of her mother — who was Garcia's girlfriend at the time.
After they left the home in 2004, authorities say Garcia gave the girl fake identification and warned that she'd be deported to Mexico if she tried to leave him. They eventually married and had a child.
The woman went to police in 2014 after reconnecting with her family through Facebook.
Garcia says the girl went with him willingly.
A woman who says her mother's former boyfriend raped and abducted her when she was 15 and later became her husband has started testifying in the man's trial.
The now-26-year-old woman took the stand in an Orange County courtroom on Wednesday after her younger sister and mother testified in the trial of 42-year-old Isidro Garcia.
Garcia is charged with raping and kidnapping the teen in 2004. Authorities say she continued to live with Garcia, married him and bore his child until reporting him to police a decade later after reconnecting with her family on Facebook.
The woman looked at Garcia when she entered the courtroom. She said she had not seen him since the custody battle over their daughter.
Garcia has pleaded not guilty and says the girl went with him willingly.
A Southern California woman has testified that she received a Facebook message out of the blue from a sister authorities say was kidnapped a decade earlier by their mother's boyfriend.
She took the stand Wednesday in the trial of 42-year-old Isidro Garcia, who is charged with raping and abducting the witness' teenage sister in 2004. Garcia says the girl ran away with him willingly.
The woman said she got excited when her sister's name popped up in a Facebook request in 2014 and immediately sent a message to her.
She says her sister wrote back asking about the family and saying she loved them.
Authorities say Garcia abducted the 15-year-old girl shortly after she arrived from Mexico, and she eventually married and bore his child after he told her she would be deported if she left.
