SOMERVILLE, N.J. (AP) — The son of a former New York Giants Super Bowl champion has pleaded guilty in New Jersey in an assault-by-auto case.
Clint Benson now faces up to seven years in prison. He is the 23-year-old son of Brad Benson, an offensive lineman on the Giants' 1987 Super Bowl team.
Clint Benson, of Hillsborough, pleaded guilty Monday to assault by auto, possession of hollow-point bullets and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also pleaded guilty to several motor-vehicle offenses, including drunken driving.
The charges stem from a 2013 incident outside a bar in Branchburg. Authorities say Benson hit a man from behind with his pickup truck and fled the scene. That came after the victim had accused Benson of driving recklessly.
The victim suffered a fractured skull, bruised lungs and other injuries.
