NEW YORK (AP) — "Ride Along 2" finally dethroned "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, taking in $41 million in its four-day debut.

That was less than the 2014 original made over the same weekend ($48.6 million), but the Kevin Hart-Ice Cube comedy still put an end to the monthlong reign of "The Force Awakens." J.J. Abrams' blockbuster slid to third with $33 million in its fifth weekend, bringing its record domestic gross to $859 million, according to final studio figures Tuesday.

Following its leading 12 Oscar nominations, Alejandro Inarritu's frontier saga "The Revenant" continued to outperform expectations in its second week of wide release. It took in $37.5 million, bringing its cumulative haul to $95.7 million.

Michael Bay's "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi" failed to make a large impact, earning $19.2 million in its debut.
