Ohio home explosion, fire that killed family of 4 was arson

NORTHFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Investigators say an Ohio house fire and explosion that killed a family of four was arson.

The state fire marshal's office says Wednesday that investigators have determined what caused the fire in Northfield Center Township, but they aren't releasing details while the investigation is underway.

Authorities say Jeffrey and Cynthia Mather were killed, along with their daughters, 8-year-old Ruthie Mather and 12-year-old Alyson Mather.

Neighbors say Monday night's explosion shook homes throughout their neighborhood.

Dominion East Ohio Gas says testing confirmed there was no natural gas leak from its lines at the home, about 15 miles southeast of Cleveland.

The fire marshal's office says it is working on the investigation with the Summit County sheriff's office and a local fire department.
