ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (AP) — A Coast Guard helicopter has airlifted a woman from a cruise ship off North Carolina because of chest pains.
A news release from the Coast Guard says the 63-year-old woman was suffering chest pains Monday morning. The ship, named the Norwegian Breakaway, was about 39 miles northeast of Hatteras, near the Outer Banks barrier islands.
The Coast Guard says that shortly after 8 a.m., the HH-60T helicopter launched from Elizabeth city to pick up the woman, her husband and a nurse.
The helicopter carrying the woman arrived just before 10 a.m. at a hospital in Nags Head.
The Coast Guard didn't elaborate on the woman's condition. A message left seeking comment from the hospital wasn't immediately returned.
Norwegian Cruise Lines' website says the Breakaway has a capacity of 4,000 passengers.
