LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Officials say an Atlanta-area college has been temporarily closed after a woman was found fatally shot in an apartment nearby, and police are looking for her husband.
Georgia Gwinnett College sent alerts saying campus had been closed after a lockdown Monday. Lawrenceville police Capt. Jeff Smith says police sought the man they suspect of shooting his wife, who was found dead around 9:40 a.m.
Georgia Gwinnett College President Stanley Preczewski said in a statement that officials were able to enter and clear occupied buildings on campus, and authorities were still looking for the man Monday afternoon.
Smith says police consider the man "armed and dangerous."
The college is in Lawrenceville, northeast of Atlanta. Its website says it has nearly 11,000 students.
