TRENTON, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says deputies have fatally shot a man after he pointed a weapon at them.
The TBI is investigating the shooting that occurred late Friday in Gibson County, about 113 miles northeast of Memphis.
TBI spokeswoman Susan Niland told The Jackson Sun (http://bit.ly/1HKyqzV) that Gibson County deputies went to a home after a man made several threating calls to emergency dispatchers from the address. Niland said when deputies arrived, 52-year-old Michael Joseph Bartkiewicz came outside and pointed a weapon at them. The deputies then fired.
Bartkiewicz died at the scene. No deputies were injured.
