PITTSBURGH (AP) — The attorney for the son and daughter of a Pennsylvania woman allegedly killed by an escaped inmate says it all could have been prevented if not for shoddy jail policies.
George Kontos represents Todd and Tara Long, of Kittanning. He made that comment at a news conference Thursday announcing a federal lawsuit against the Armstrong County jail and warden David Hogue.
The lawsuit cites reports by the district attorney and a security consultant who found lax security enabled 38-year-old Robert Crissman to run away from the jail on July 30 while working as a trustee.
Crissman allegedly strangled 55-year-old Tammy Long before he was captured the next day.
The county's attorney has declined comment and Hogue's phones are disconnected. He has resigned effective next week.
