CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — The University of North Carolina has issued a campus-wide alert about an anonymous online threat at the school in Chapel Hill.
The alert says the public safety department became aware of the threat Tuesday morning. The school sent the alert sent to students, faculty and staff.
The threat did not mention any location on campus that was in danger nor did it say what the threat was. The alert says the threatening posting warned against being on campus at 9:49 a.m. Tuesday.
The school is continuing to operate normally while the online posting is investigated.
Campus police spokesman Randy Young says investigators are trying to determine who posted the threat. He says patrols have been increased around high-traffic areas on campus.
