MILWAUKEE (AP) — Police say two teenagers have been injured in a shootout with officers in Milwaukee.
Authorities say two officers on bikes were investigating a suspicious car with no license plates in a north side alley about 8:40 p.m. Monday. Police say one of three teens in the car exchanged gunfire with officers as they approached.
Two of the suspects, both 17-year-old males from Milwaukee, were shot by the officers, taken into custody and conveyed to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. A third suspect, an 18-year-old West Allis man, was arrested at the scene.
Officials say two handguns and drugs were recovered. They say the vehicle was stolen in October on the city's south side.
Both officers have been placed on administrative leave while the Wisconsin Department of Justice investigates.
