HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jurors are in their second day of deliberations in the trial of an Alabama police officer accused of using excessive force against a grandfather from India.
The panel returned to federal court in Huntsville on Monday to consider a civil rights charge against Madison police officer Eric Parker.
The judge earlier agreed to the jury's request to see a police video of Parker's encounter with 58-year-old Sureshbhai Patel (suh-REHSH'-by pah-TEL').
Prosecutors say Parker used excessive force by knocking down Patel in a suburban neighborhood in February.
Parker testified that Patel tried to pull away from him, indicating he may have been up to no good.
Parker is on trial for the second time. His first trial ended in a hung jury in September.
