BALTIMORE (AP) — A husband and wife from Baltimore have been charged with killing their infant son.
Baltimore police say 35-year-old Anne Kirsch and 37-year-old Matthew Kirsch neglected and beat the baby during the nine days after his birth.
The baby, also named Matthew Kirsch, died on Oct. 20. Police say an autopsy found the cause of death to be homicide by blunt force trauma and neglect. In addition to the trauma, police say the infant had signs of dehydration and malnutrition.
Police say the Kirsches told investigators that they found the infant unresponsive. They both face charges including murder, child abuse, neglect and assault.
Both are in custody. Anne Kirsch is being held without bond. Bond information was not available for Matthew Kirsch. Online court records did not list attorneys for them.
