US stocks slip in early trade; GoPro sinks on weak earnings

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are edging lower in early trading, giving back some of the gains the made the day before.

Several companies fell Thursday after reporting disappointing results. Camera maker GoPro dropped 14 percent, and Buffalo Wild Wings slumped 15 percent.

Not all the earnings news was bad. Hanesbrands climbed 9 percent after releasing a strong earnings report and raising its profit estimate for the year.

The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 33 points, or 0.2 percent, to 17,746 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell three points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,087. The Nasdaq composite gave up 12 points, or 0.2 percent, to 5,083.

Bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.13 percent.
