DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Police at North Carolina Central University in Durham say an argument led to a shooting that sent one student to a hospital.
The campus was put on lockdown for about an hour starting at 11 p.m. Sunday after the shooting at the edge of the campus.
Campus Police Chief Willie Bell said at a news conference that the shooting was isolated and not a random act. Police say they are looking for multiple suspects, but no arrests have been made.
Bell says the 19-year-old sophomore was released from a hospital Monday after a non-life threatening wound to the buttocks. The name wasn't released.
Bell says it was appropriate to put the campus on lockdown until investigators determined that it was an isolated shooting.
