SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane police have arrested two teenage brothers for running an underage prostitution ring.
Police say a 17-year-old in a juvenile detention center was instructing his 15-year-old brother in phone calls about how to run the prostitution ring.
Members of a police gang unit say they were listening to the calls hoping to get more information about an unrelated felony charge involving a shooting.
The 15-year-old appeared in court Thursday on charges of promoting prostitution and promoting the commercial sexual abuse of a minor. Investigators say girls were ordered by the teens to advertise themselves on a prostitution website for $400 dates. Those who didn't were reportedly assaulted.
Documents say their mother was getting 25 percent of the profits.
Both brothers are in custody at the juvenile detention center.
