DETROIT (AP) — Volkswagen's U.S. sales seem to have stalled in the wake of its diesel emissions scandal.
J.D. Power says Volkswagen Group's sales are expected to be flat in October, even as sales for the U.S. auto industry climb 8 percent toward what could be of the best Octobers in more than a decade.
The Associated Press obtained J.D. Power's forecast Thursday. Automakers will report October sales next month.
Volkswagen's U.S. sales had risen over the summer, but took a hit after the German automaker admitted it programmed 11 million cars — about 500,000 in the U.S. — to cheat on emissions tests.
VW's Audi brand, which has only one car involved in the diesel probe, is a bright spot. Car shopping site Edmunds.com predicts a 15 percent gain for Audi sales.
