MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a 14-year-old boy driving a stolen car led a sheriff's deputy on a chase at speeds reaching about 70 mph in suburban Detroit before the car rolled and crashed.
The Macomb County sheriff's department says a deputy patrolling in Mount Clemens around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday saw the driver disregard a flashing red traffic signal.
The deputy tried to stop the car. It sped from the area and soon struck a curb and crashed. The driver ran away. Sheriff's deputies and Clinton Township police searched the area, finding a 14 year-old Clinton Township boy hiding beneath a pool deck.
The pursuit was recorded on dashcam video. The boy was arrested and taken to a hospital. He was released from the hospital and is being held pending charges.
