DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — The vice president of a southeast Alabama TV station says he'll press charges against a city commissioner accused of hitting a reporter in the face.

WTVY-TV in Dothan (http://bit.ly/1FSiryU ) reports City Commissioner Amos Newsome hit reporter Ken Curtis after a commission meeting Tuesday. The confrontation was recorded and Curtis can be heard asking Newsome if he plans to step down after three women who worked on his campaign were convicted of voter fraud. Charges are pending against a fourth campaign staffer.

The station's Vice President and General Manager Spencer Bienvenu said in a statement that station officials are "extremely disappointed and horrified" by Newsome's actions and that Curtis was doing his job.

Multiple calls to Newsome were not answered. According to the city's website, his term expires in October 2017.
