GRANITE FALLS, Wash. (AP) — A 12-year-old boy has been arrested for bringing an inoperable gun to a middle school about 40 miles northeast of Seattle.
Officials with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that a Granite Falls Middle School student showed the gun to a group of students after school was dismissed Tuesday afternoon.
One of the students reportedly took the gun away from the boy and ran to get help from nearby adults. No one was injured.
Deputies took the boy into custody and booked him for possessing a firearm on school grounds.
A sheriff spokeswoman said it wasn't immediately known what made the gun inoperable.
