NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Autopsy results show that the man who attacked moviegoers at a Nashville-area theater before he was fatally shot by police had no alcohol or drugs in his system.
Vincente Montano entered a Nashville-area multiplex in August armed with a pellet gun, a hatchet, pepper spray and a canister of propane. Police were called after he attacked two women and a man. When officers arrived, Montano shot pellets at them. Officers returned fire, killing him.
The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1h7SVtA) cited the autopsy results in reporting that Montano was hit by 24 bullets.
Police have said Montano was homeless and suffered from mental illness.
Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said the agency is approaching the final stage of the investigation, which will be sent to the local prosecutor's office for review.
